JEN. (R) TAN SRI YAACOB had a
distinguished career spanning nearly 40
years in Angkatan Tentera Malaysia before
retiring in 1993 as a Panglima Angkatan
Tentera Malaysia. He had attended courses
at the Australian Army General Command
and Staff College, the Naval Post Graduate
School in Monterey, United States of
America, the Royal College of Defence
Studies in the United Kingdom, including
the Advance Management Programme at
Harvard Business School.
Apart from his directorship in the
Company, he is the Chairman of Affin
Investment Bank Berhad, Syarikat
Permodalan Kebangsaan Berhad, SPK
Sentosa Corporation Berhad, NV Multi
Corporation Berhad, FTEC Resources
Berhad as well as a Board Member of
Rating Agency Malaysia Berhad.
Dato' Sri Dr. Leong Hoy Kum, 50 years of age, helms Mah Sing Group Berhad as its Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive, and is the driving force behind its exponential growth and success. His drive, passion and foresight have propelled the company to the top of the industry with 14 commercial and residential projects and a market capitalisation of over RM1billion. Dato' Sri Dr. Leong has also made the country proud by winning the largest property award in the world, International Property Awards 2007 in association with CNBC for Damansara Legenda (Best Development Malaysia). Under Dato' Sri Dr. Leong's stewardship, the Group has also garnered a string of domestic and regional awards including Forbes Asia's Best Under US$1 Billion Award 2005-2007, The Edge Top 30,Top Property Awards 2006 & 2007 and The Edge Top 100 Companies with Best Returns over 5 years 2006 & 2007. He is committed to bring the Group to the next level on the regional playing field, thus increasing Malaysia's recognition in the eyes of the world.
A corporate veteran of nearly 30 years, Dato' Sri Dr. Leong headed the Group's plastics division before diversifying into property development, and has been on the Central Committee of the 900-member Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Associations since 1986. He is also the Honorary President of the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China. He has been the Honorary President of the Young Malaysian Movement Association (YMM) since 1999 and of The Dramatic Art Society, Malaysia since 1996. Besides that, he has been the Vice-President of the Table Tennis Association of Malaysia since 1999. He is also the Honorary President of Malaysian Xiang Lian Youth Association. Besides being a prominent corporate figure, Dato' Sri Dr. Leong plays an active role in social work through Mah Sing Foundation, the charity arm of Mah Sing Group Berhad. He founded the Foundation in 2006 to aid medical and educational causes, and has done much work to assist the deserving in their times of need. In recognition of his achievements, he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in Business Administration by the Honolulu University, Hawaii in 2000. He was conferred the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S) which carries the title of "Dato" and the Jaksa Pengaman (J.P) awards by his Highness, Sultan of Selangor in 1996 and 2001 respectively. Dato' Dr. Leong Hoy Kum was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang Yang Amat DiMulia Peringkat Pertama Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) which carries the title "Dato' Sri" on the Sultan Pahang's 77th birthday on 3rd November 2007.
MR STEVEN NG has more than 16
years experience in corporate finance,
accounting and auditing. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree majoring in
accounting from the University of Wales
(UK). He is a member of both the Institute
of Chartered Accountants in England
and Wales and the Malaysian Institute of
Accountants. He worked in a Chartered
Accountancy firm in the United Kingdom
and upon his return to Malaysia, served
as a Manager in Malaysian International
Merchant Bankers Berhad (now known
as MIMB Investment Bank Berhad) before
joining SP Setia Berhad. After 8 years of
service in SP Setia Berhad, he left as Head
of Corporate Affairs prior to joining the
Company.
He joined the Company as Chief Financial
Officer responsible for the Group
Corporate and Finance division before
being appointed to the Board.
MR LIM has more than 25 years experience
in property development. He holds
a Bachelor (Hons) Degree in Housing,
Building and Planning from the University
of Science, Penang. He is a member of the
Chartered Institute of Building, United
Kingdom (CIOB). He was the Head of
Property Division of Berjaya Land Berhad
for 13 years, before moving on to MK
Land Holdings as Chief Operating Officer,
and then on to Zelan Development Sdn
Bhd, a subsidiary of Tronoh Consolidated
Berhad as Managing Director. He
is well experienced in handling the
development of golf and seaside
resorts, shopping malls development
and management, residential housing
schemes and privatization of projects
from the government.
He joined the Company as Business
Development Director before being
appointed to the Board.
CAPTAIN IZAHAM served in the Malaysian
Armed Forces for nearly 14 years before
his early retirement in 1992. He attended
various career courses conducted
internally as well as in Australia
and Singapore. He was the Business
Development Manager at the Kukup Golf
Resort in Pontian, Johor before serving
Port Dickson Golf & Country Club as the
General Manager until end 2004.
Captain Izaham is also a Director in a
leading multinational petroleum company
from the Sultanate of Oman (MB Petroleum
Services Sdn Bhd) and Epicentro Resources
Sdn Bhd which deals in Defence Products
and is a subsidiary of British Aerospace
(BAE Systems).
MS LEONG has been attached to
RHB Securities Sdn Bhd as a Dealers
Representative since 1991. Prior to that
she was attached to KAF Discount Berhad
as a Senior Accountant.
MR LOH is an accountant by profession
and has been attached with international
accounting firms both in Malaysia as well
as overseas for more than 20 years, 3 years
of which as a Partner of Deloitte Touche
Tohmatsu Kuala Lumpur. He is currently
the Partner of a professional services
firm, Russell Bedford LC & Company.
Apart from his directorship in the
Company, he is also a director of The
Ayer Hitam Planting Syndicate Berhad.
